Who We Are
GreenBean Indonesia is a specialty green coffee exporter sourcing directly from smallholder farmers across Indonesia's finest growing regions. We focus on origins with genuine cup distinction — volcanic highland terroir, careful processing, and the kind of traceability that specialty buyers increasingly demand.
Indonesia is the world's fourth-largest coffee producer. For decades, the country's finest green beans have been exported undervalued, absorbed into commodity blends with no origin recognition. We exist to change that — building direct relationships with farmers, paying above-market prices for quality lots, and connecting these origins with the roasters and importers who are ready for something better.
Our Sourcing Approach
We work with a trusted network of smallholder farmers — typically managing 0.5 to 2 hectare plots where coffee grows alongside food crops and native shade trees. These are multigenerational family farms, not industrial operations, and the care that goes into each plot shows in the cup.
We pay above-market prices for quality lots, train farmers in selective harvesting practices, and document each lot from cherry to shipment. Every buyer gets full traceability — farm location, altitude, processing method, moisture content, screen size, and defect rate — because we believe transparency is the foundation of a genuine trade relationship.
Our Quality Process
Cherry Selection
Hand-picked red-ripe cherries only. Floatation sorting removes defective cherries on-site. Farmers are trained and incentivised for quality.
Processing
Natural, honey, or fully washed — documented per lot with date and method. Raised beds or sealed ground tarps depending on process.
Physical Grading
Hulled, sorted by screen size, hand-sorted for defects. Moisture measured at intake and pre-shipment. Full data sheet issued.
Documentation
Every export lot ships with Phytosanitary Certificate, Certificate of Origin, and Health Certificate — compliant with EU, US, Japan, and Australian import requirements.
Our Mission
We started with Fine Robusta from Central Java's volcanic highlands — an origin that has historically been overlooked despite genuine cup quality. As we grow our network, we plan to bring more of Indonesia's extraordinary coffee diversity to international buyers: from Sumatra to Flores, from Java to Sulawesi.
Our buyers are typically specialty roasters exploring Indonesian origins; importers building single-origin portfolios; and buyers who need a supplier with responsive English communication and clean documentation. We work best with buyers who value direct relationships over broker intermediaries.
